Floral Engraved Skeleton Movement

The defining feature of the 3168 is its movement engraving — the bridges, mainplate, and barrel cover are relief-carved with a flowing scroll and wave pattern. This is applied by 0.03mm high-precision laser engraving combined with five structural cutting passes and seven manual polishing stages per the supplier’s process documentation. The result is a three-dimensional carved surface across the entire movement visible from both the front and the exhibition case back.

The engraving style draws from traditional mechanical watch decoration — guilloché and hand-engraved floral work historically applied to high-end dress movements. At this price point, laser engraving replicates the visual character of hand-engraved work at scale. The red synthetic ruby bearings (21 jewel positions) are visible across the movement as small red accent dots, providing colour contrast against the silver and gold movement architecture.

Double-Sided Skeleton Display

The 3168 has no conventional dial — the movement is open from both the front face and the exhibition sapphire case back. The front view shows the engraved movement bridges, gold gear train, and red jewel bearings through the sapphire crystal. The case back provides an unobstructed view of the automatic rotor and the full movement layout. Roman numerals are applied to the chapter ring as raised gold-tone markers. Toffee hands in matching gold tone sweep over the open movement.

Movement — 21 Jewels, 80-Hour Power Reserve

The proprietary OUPINKE automatic movement runs at 21,600 vph (6 beats per second) with 21 synthetic ruby jewel bearings and a stated power reserve of up to 80 hours from full wind — significantly higher than the 40–45 hour reserve common to NH35/NH36-class movements. The 80-hour reserve means the watch will continue running through a full non-wearing weekend and resume accurately on Monday without manual winding. Self-winding via bidirectional rotor; manual winding via the crown. No date complication — the dial reads clean.

Synthetic Sapphire Crystal

Mohs 9 synthetic sapphire with three coatings: anti-glare, anti-fingerprint plating, and soft fibre cushion protection. The domed crystal profile sits above the bezel. On a skeleton watch the crystal clarity is particularly important — the quality of the view through the crystal directly affects how much movement detail is visible. Synthetic sapphire at this grade provides full optical clarity with minimal distortion.

Tungsten and Stainless Steel Bracelet
