Green sunburst: A rich green sunburst — warm, directional light play shifts the tone between deeper and lighter green across the dial field. Green is consistently the most sought-after dial colour in the affordable chronograph market.
Brown sunburst: A warm chocolate-brown sunburst — the most vintage-referential of the five. Brown on a two-register chronograph with Arabic numerals creates a specific mid-century instrument character.
White/silver: A clean silver-white sunburst — the highest contrast and most formally legible configuration. The sunburst texture is most clearly visible on the silver variant as each directional facet reads distinctly.
Ice blue: A pale, light blue sunburst — the most contemporary colour expression in the five. Ice blue creates a cooler, fresher character distinct from the warm tones of the green and brown.
Black: High contrast black — silver Arabic numerals and hands on a dark field. The most versatile for daily and formal wear.
The ST19 is Seagull’s hand-wound mechanical chronograph caliber, produced at the Tianjin Sea-Gull Watch Group. It is one of the most historically significant Chinese watch movements — the ST19 has been manufactured since the 1960s, making it one of the longest-continuously-produced mechanical chronograph movements in the world.
Architecture: The ST19 is a column-wheel lateral clutch design — the column wheel controls chronograph engagement with the same mechanism type used in classic Swiss chronograph calibers. The lateral clutch creates a distinctive tactile engagement when the pusher is pressed.
Hand-wound: The ST19 has no automatic rotor. The mainspring must be wound by hand each day — typically 20–30 crown rotations. The power reserve is approximately 45 hours from a full wind.
Two-register layout: The ST19 drives the 2101CS’s two-register dial configuration. The left sub-dial shows running seconds continuously; the right sub-dial shows the 30-minute chronograph counter. The central hand is the chronograph seconds hand — it starts, stops and resets via the two pushers.
Why collectors choose the ST19: The movement’s mechanical simplicity, long production history, column-wheel architecture and hand-wound character create the ownership experience that distinguishes it from automatic or quartz chronographs. Pressing the pushers on a column-wheel ST19 has a specific tactile quality different from both cam-lever designs and electronic triggers.
The two-register layout is historically the most common chronograph architecture — a left sub-dial for running seconds (confirming the movement is operating) and a right sub-dial for the 30-minute elapsed counter. The central hand starts at zero and sweeps the full 60-second dial on activation.
Arabic numerals at the hour positions and a peripheral tachymeter-style scale complete the dial. The symmetrical left-right sub-dial placement creates the balanced, considered dial architecture associated with vintage Swiss and early Chinese chronographs.
The 2101CS case is described as “sculpted” or “irregular” — not a standard round or barrel profile but a shaped case with curved transitions and a cushion-influenced outline. The polished surfaces of the sculpted case catch light from multiple angles simultaneously, creating a case with more visual depth than a simple cylinder would produce.
At 38.4mm with 46.5mm lug-to-lug the proportions are compact for a manual chronograph — consistent with vintage chronograph sizing where 38–40mm was the standard before the modern trend toward larger cases.
The stainless steel woven mesh bracelet is the 2101CS’s strap format — lightweight, flexible and adjustable without link removal. The mesh creates a different wrist character from solid-link bracelets: more breathable and more casual in appearance, appropriate for both the vintage instrument character of the ST19 chronograph and for daily contemporary wear.
The 2101CS fills a specific position in the Farasute range — hand-wound column-wheel ST19 chronograph at 38.4mm on mesh bracelet:
| Model | Movement | Type | Size | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2101CS | Seagull ST19 HW | Column-wheel, two-register | 38.4mm | $466 |
| Trackmaster I | Dandong 4801 auto | Column-wheel, tri-compax | 39mm | lower |
| Trackmaster II | Dandong 4801 auto | Column-wheel, tri-compax | 39mm | $901 |
| NL-007VK64 | Seiko VK64 | Mecaquartz, dual-register | 38mm | $259 |
| NL-007S | Seiko VK64 | Mecaquartz + 24hr | 38mm | $243 |
The 2101CS is the only hand-wound mechanical chronograph in the Farasute range — all others are either automatic (Trackmasters) or mecaquartz (NL-007 series). For buyers who specifically want the hand-wound engagement on a mechanical chronograph, the ST19 in the 2101CS is the correct choice.
The 2101CS is built for:
vs. Farasute Trackmaster I — Trackmaster I is Dandong 4801 automatic, tri-compax, 39mm, steel bracelet. The 2101CS is ST19 hand-wound, two-register, 38.4mm, mesh bracelet. Both are column-wheel mechanical chronographs — choose Trackmaster for automatic winding and tri-compax layout; choose 2101CS for hand-wound ST19 and the vintage two-register format.
vs. Sugess S465 ST1903 Chrono — The Sugess uses the related ST1903 (derived from ST19) at 38mm in a different case format. Both are Seagull column-wheel hand-wound chronographs.
vs. Phylida ST19 Chronograph — Phylida also uses the ST19 at 38–40mm. Compare the case and dial designs between both brands at the same movement tier.
